visible spectrum
History Newton's color circle, Optics in 1704, showing the colors in conjunction with the musical notes. The colors of the spectrum red to violet are divided by the notes of the musical scale, D. The circle is completed by an octave, D to D. Circle of Newton 's areas red one end of the spectrum, with violet on the other. This reflects the fact that the spectral color violet is not observed when the mixture red and purple. Two of the first explanations of the optical spectrum came from Isaac Newton, when he wrote his Opticks, and Goethe in his Theory of colors, though than previous observations had been made by Roger Bacon, who first recognized the visible spectrum in a glass of water, four centuries before Newton discovered that prisms could disassemble and reassemble white light. Newton first used the word spectrum (Latin for "appearance" or "apparition") in print in 1671 describing his experiments in optics. The word "spectrum" [Spektrum] is used exclusively to designate a ghostly afterimage Goethe in his Theory optical colors and Schopenhauer on vision and color. Newton noted that when a narrow beam of sunlight hits the face of a glass prism at an angle, another part is reflected and part of the beam passing through the glass, turning strips of different colors. Newton hypothesis that light consisted of "corpuscles" (particles) of different colors and different colors of light moved to different speeds in transparent, light red scrolls in the glass purple. The result is that red bends light (refraction), less strongly than the violet of its passage through the prism, creating a spectrum of colors. Newton divided the spectrum into seven named colors: indigo, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. (Some students memorize the order by ROY G. BIV the rule.) Selects seven colors on a belief, from sophists of ancient Greece, there was a relationship between colors, musical notes, known objects in the solar system, and the days of the week. Eye Humans are relatively insensitive to the frequencies of indigo, and some other well-blind can not distinguish the blue indigo and violet. For this reason, some commentators, including Isaac Asimov have suggested that indigo should not be regarded as a color in itself, but merely as a shade of blue or purple. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said that the continuous spectrum was a compound phenomenon. When Newton dropped the light beam to isolate the phenomenon, Goethe observed that the opening wider spectrum does not occur, but rather red, yellow and cyan edges with white between them. The spectrum does not appear when these edges are close enough to overlap. In the 19th century, the concept of the visible spectrum has become more defined, as the light outside the infrared rangeltraviolet visible discovered and characterized by William Herschel, Johann Wilhelm Ritter, Thomas Young, Thomas Johann Seebeck, et al. Young was the first to measure the lengths wavelength different colors of light, in 1802. The connection between the visible spectrum and color vision has been explored by Thomas Young and Hermann von Helmholtz in the 19th century. His theory of color vision correctly suggested that the eye uses three different receivers to collect color. spectral colors Color Wavelength Frequency purple 380 450 nm 668 789 THz blue 450 495 nm 606 668 THz green 495 570 nm 526 606 THz yellow 570 590 nm 508 526 THz orange 590-620 nm 484 508 THz red 620 750 nm 400 484 THz Colors that can be produced by visible light of a single wavelength (monochromatic) are known as pure colors of the spectrum. Although the spectrum is continuous, without clear boundaries between one color and the next lines can be used as an approximation. Spectroscopy Rough terrain of transmission in the atmosphere of the Earth (or opacity) to various wavelengths of radiation electromagnetic, including visible light. Spectroscopy is the study of objects based on the color spectrum emitted or absorbed. Spectroscopy is an important tool for astronomical research, where scientists use to analyze the properties of distant objects. In general Astronomers use spectroscopy diffraction gratings to observe spectra at high dispersion, high spectral resolution. Helium was detected by analyzing the spectrum of the sun. The chemical elements can be detected in astronomical objects by emission lines and absorption lines. Moving lines spectrum can be used to measure the redshift or rapid blue shift of distant objects or move. The discovery of the first extrasolar planets by analyzing Doppler frequency of stars at a resolution which noted that changes radial velocity as small as a few meters per second. The presence of planets was revealed by their gravitational influence on the movement of the stars. the spectrum of colors spectrum of colors produced by a display device. Color sample (eg, computer screens and televisions) mix of red, green and blue to create colors in their respective triangles of color, so that can represent the colors of the spectrum, which are, in general, regardless of any triangle color. A rendering of the color spectrum in the sRGB color space on a gray background. A rendering of the color spectrum in the sRGB color space on a brown background. The colors outside the gamut of the display device give rise to negative values. If accurate color reproduction is desired spectrum, negative values can be avoided by having spectrum on a gray background. This gives an accurate simulation of a ghost on a gray background. Exploration The world of desktop scanners has crossed the threshold of Deep Color, which scanners are capable of capturing one million colors or more.
